charity Work

This past year, I decided that I wanted to do something I enjoy but for a good cause. I wanted to donate all of my proceeds, from my 2007 jewelry show, to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for taking such good care of my Grandparents. My Grandfather recently passed away from Prostate Cancer and my Grandmother is battling Lung Cancer.

In order to maximize the amount of money I could raise and donate, I decided that I would attempt to get sponsors to support this year’s show. I wrote a formal business proposal detailing what I wanted to do and why and presented it to Betteridge Jewelers, who generously agreed to sponsor me. They then sent me to SPB Gems who did the same. Because of their generosity, I was able to give 100% of the proceeds, from my 2007 show, to MSKCC. I would not have raised nearly as much without their generosity.

I worked very hard, creating many pieces before my December 2007 show. I was able to create close to 200 pieces for sale and my show was an amazing success. In the end, I was able to raise close to $15,000, all of which was contributed to MSKCC.

I feel so lucky that I am able to do something I love so much and use it to benefit this amazing cause.

Thank you to everyone who supported me, The Amanda Leigh Collection and MSKCC. It really meant a lot to me and my family.
